PERSONAL LIFE

Miles was fortunate enough to find the love of his life 27 years ago and instantly put a ring on her finger.  He married Sheila in 1993 and went on to have three amazing children, Sophia 23, Lila 20 and Cason 18. All of their children went through the Souderton School District with Sophia now at MCCC, Lila enrolled with Penn State and Cason working at Bergey’s.  Sheila is also quite a value to the community with her dedication as a special education teacher for autistic children at the Pathway School in Norristown.

Living in their 1950’s Telford Borough home, Miles established roots with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church long ago.

Miles loves to cook and makes it a point to seek out new culinary creations to prepare for his friends and family.  As an outdoor enthusiast and sportsman, he enjoys hiking, hunting, landscaping design, gardening and creating habitats and ecosystems that truly focus on preserving our shared natural heritage.

Miles also stays on top of current events by being an avid reader of political blogs and opinions, as well as books and literature that transcend time and generations by speaking to a larger truth.  Being a part of history, as well as reading about it, is one of the reasons Miles will be a vital and valuable source to stay true to both the Pennsylvania & US Constitution.

PROFESSIONAL PATH

Miles found his calling by graduating magna cum laude from Pennsylvania’s East Stroudsburg University, with a dual degree in Biology and Environmental Studies. He later earned a Master of Science degree in Botany, specializing in plant taxonomy and pollination ecology from New Orleans’ Tulane University.

With many Sigma Xi Scientific Research Awards under his belt for Achievement in Biology and Environmental Studies, as well as Pennsylvania University’s Outstanding Achievement Award in biology, he landed his first job as the Horticulture Manager for the Audubon Institute. There he created and installed the “Butterflies in Flight” indoor exhibit for the Audubon Zoological Gardens in New Orleans and supervised the operation of Audubon Park, including 15,000 square feet of gardens under glass.

Miles moved on to become the Interpretive Horticulturist with the Education Department at Callaway Gardens where he organized garden symposiums, educational programs for children and gave VIP tours to many dignitaries including Ladybird Johnson.

However for the past 20 years, Miles has served as the Executive Director of Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve in New Hope, PA. With a mission to inspire the use of native plants, he became a sanctuary of educational research for information on conservation and stewardship.

He has now stepped down as the Preserve’s Director to pursue his desire to serve his community as the endorsed Republican candidate for Pennsylvania’s 53rd Legislative district.

SERVICE TO COMMUNITY

Miles enjoys giving back to his community by volunteering his time in a variety of ways that impact so many facets of life. You’ll find his tireless dedication serving as:

In addition to all the organizations above, Miles is now Vice Chairman of the Telford Borough Council.  He also serves on the Public Safety Committee, as well as the Administrative & Finance Committees too. When not handling the needs of the township, he takes on the added responsibility that comes along with being a Republican Committeeman in Area 3. Miles is considered one of the most valued Republicans in the Area with his dedication to spreading the message of Conservative Principles and Practices that help to make the Community thrive.
