Hello everyone at Angel Ridge! We, the Kapostas Family, just wanted to share a Christmas photo and an update of our new puppy Kandie (formerly Ivy, one of Lizzie's puppies)!! We adopted her on October 11, 2008 and she weighed in at 3.5 pounds. Now, at 4 months, she weighs in at about 19 pounds! She brings great joy to our family and we love her very much. She has definatly made herself at home with us! We took her to the Bethel Park Petco to get her picture taken with Santa and to help out Angel Ridge! Hope you enjoy the holidays and help out many more pets for years to come! I have attached 2 photos of Kandie for everyone to see! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Home For Jimmy!

Hi, We (Molzer Family) adopted Babe back in April. Sorry it took so long to Molzer Family -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The lil pup named Abby
I would just like to thank you guys at Angel Ridge. I adopted a lab/shepard mix puppy off of you in September/October. My name is Robert Roman. I named the lil pup Abby and she is loving her new home and is a very good girl. She is a troublemaker but does it with the cutest face so you cant help but smile at her. I have attached several photos of her so you can see how she has grown and is very happy. I just thought youd like to hear from me and I appreciate you letting her find me because I am truly grateful. Thanks a bunch, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tucker enjoying his new home
Merry Christmas everyone! Every once in a while I get a piece of mail from you, but it has a very strange address, so I don't get everything. I want to make sure you have the right one and send you some photos of Tucker as well. Tucker and I met the last week of March last year when he and his brother and sister were about 3 months old at Angel Ridge. I'm not sure where they came from (possibly WV), but I know that his sister Daisy has a home with my co-worker's family, the Morgan's from the Waynesburg area. I've enclosed a few pics from his ride home, to his "girlfriend" who lives across the street. He goes there every day while I'm at work to play with the 3 labs there, and go to the farm and wetlands to run around for a while - he LOVES to RUN. I really mean RUN - he fascinates people at how fast he goes.. In our time together, he has introduced me to everyone I know in the neighborhood. He is definitely the neighborhood hottie and social butterfly. Tucker has also visited the nursing home a few times, and he has completely connected with my 10 year old Autistic nephew (attached). I can't imagine where I would be without him - thank you so much. Thanks for everything you do at Angel Ridge! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lady Shannon now helps others!
6-30-07 I wanted to write and tell you about "Lady" Shannon. It's been 1 year and 4 months that Shannon has been living with me in Vermont. I am sending you a picture of Shannon and I together at a Health Fair in Rutland Vermont. We were there representing the Caring Canines Therapy Dog Club of Southern Vermont of which Shannon is certified. Today, June 30th 2007, Shannon became certified for the Canine Good Citizen, she passed her evaluation with flying colors. Shannon visits the local Assisted Living facilities and a young boy with autism soon she will be going for her level II for the Caring Canines Therapy Dog Club so that she can make visits in Nursing Homes and Hospital. She is such a joy and is truly a Mama's girl. She brings so much joy to everyone, and best of all Shannon and my Golden, Tehay are best friends and love to be together. Thank you again Nancy for all your work. I would love it if some day I can make a visit down so that you can see Shannon again. God Bless -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Corky now Simon
Hello, My name is Leanne Hrzic. My husband and I adopted a wonderful Corgi from you on October 8, 2006. At the time he was known as Corky, but has since been renamed Simon. When he first came to live with us, he weighed only 20 lbs, which was well under weight to say that he was over a year old at the time. The beginning was an adjustment. But he quickly made himself at home and has made a best friend in our other dog, Rocco. They get along famously and are always together - as you can see from the first attachment. Simon now weighs 32 lbs and is doing great. He's so full of life and just loves to be around us. He's definitely the boss of the house. I've attached a few pictures of him for you to see. Thank you, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Macy (aka Gimpy)
Hi Nancy, It's been just about 2 years since we adopted Macy (aka Gimpy) from you. I wanted to send you some updated photos! She hasn't grown much, she's topped out at 23 pound, but she's the perfect size! We moved into a house this past year and Macy now has a backyard to run & play. And she is quite the runner! I can't thank you enough for letting me take her home! She has brought us sooo much joy! Thanks again! Erin Waltman -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maybelline (a.k.a. Polly)
Dear Angels; I just wanted to give you an update on Maybelline (a.k.a. Polly) the 5 month old pointer/poodle mix pup that I adopted from your rescue late one February night.
Thanks again for letting me take home this little darling. She's just perfect for me, and now I truly do believe in Angels! Sincerely; Melanie -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Millie
Hello! Just sending along a picture of our little Millie! She truly is an angel, what a sweetheart she is! We can't seem to take many great pictures of her to send along, she seems to hate having her picture taken! The funniest thing about her is how excited she gets when she knows she's about to take a Jamie Heavner & Bill -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Foxy, Nearly Dragged to Death.
It was October 2004. Foxy was found dazed and struggling to walk on the side of a busy road. Her toe nails were worn to nothing. Her toe pads and underbelly were bleeding and raw. Little Foxy had been tied behind a truck and dragged almost to her death. Foxy arrived here in the back seat of the automobile of her transporter, but she was truly delivered to us by the Angels. This is a life that was meant to be. Foxy Has a Forever Home! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Molly
Trish Brown is a very special friend to the dogs at Angel Ridge Animal Rescue. She has adopted a dog from Angel Ridge, as well as fostered some special needs dogs. This is truly one successful adoption as a result of Trish's conscientious search for a perfec home for Molly, after fostering her for a while. MOLLY'S BACKGROUND: Molly is an older Wheaten Terrier mix that was emaciated, was a mass of matted fur, and had a large tumor when she was taken to a high-kill shelter. Noah'ss Ark, another shelter, agreed to take Molly and have the tumor removed as well as have her spayed, with the understanding that Angel Ridge Animal Rescue would accept her into the sanctuary, never to fear euthanasia. Nancy Shannon agreed without hesitation. This girl needed help. Molly was recovering at Angel Ridge when Trish fell in love with her and agreed to foster her until a perfect home was found. The rest, as they say, is history!! Excerpt from Christmas card sent to Trish from Molly's new Mom: 12/05 Dear Trish: My love and gratitude, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TITO
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Honey, Precious Little Girl
Hi Nancy, I just had to send more pics of Honey. She is such a precious little girl. I can't tell you how much of a joy she is. She loves her new forever home. At first, she was shy and skittish. You could see she was so unsure how to react to our love and affection. It did not take long. Maybe two or three days, at the most, and she just settled in. She loves to give kisses and just loves kisses and hugs in return. Scratch her belly and she will follow you anywhere. She sleep so well with us at night. Generally curled up right next to me but sometimes she stretches out between my hubby and I. She is always in bed before we are. Did not take her long to know the routine at bedtime, go out to peeps, come back in for night goodie, slurp on a nice fresh bowl of water and then off to bed. She just loves to play with all her toys and loves you to play with her so we have play time. She loves to play tug with her toys and oh the growling sounds. Her little tail is just wagging as fast as it can the entire time. Just had to share more pics with you of our treasure. Carole -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cherokee Update
Cherokee was injured in a car accident in Ohio and was brought in to a high kill shelter. Something about Cherokee touched the manager of the shelter and he made a plea to rescues to help. Angel Ridge responded and brought him here to heal. Another happy ending for a dog with so much love to give -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Louisa is doing great!
Hi everyone: Just wanted to let you know that Louisa is doing great! She is such a quite and loving animal. Lucky has taken over as big brother and has already taught her how to nudge the biscuit tin for a treat. Louisa has found Milky Way's (the cat) hiding spot. She has her own bed next to Lucky and Buddie and had a bath tonight. We weren't sure how she was going to be with the water because of her past experiences but she did fine. Louisa sends lots of hugs and kisses to everyone and an extra one for Terry and his family. Attached are two pictures of the pups together. I hope they come through for you - I am not very good at this digital camera computer stuff! Talk to you soon- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update on Pod
Angel Ridge, I wanted to write to you to give you an update on Pod, who we adopted in October. Pod , a 3-year old lab mix, came into a house with an 11-year old lab mix and a 15-year old cat. It almost seems that Pod was meant for this family, he has blended in so well and has become best buddies with Ace and Misty. We had a few bumps in the road at the beginning with Pod not having ready access to outside while we are at work. Fortunately, I only work a mile away and come home at lunch to walk the dogs. They love the extra exercise! We were worried at first that he would have trouble getting up and down stairs with only 3 legs...boy, did he teach us! Within 5 minutes of coming home, he chased the cat up the stairs in 3 bounds! We have lots of land and woods for Pod to explore and he loves chasing the deer and turkeys here. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for Pod. I can't even imagine our family without him. He is so sweet and calm which is surprising as when it comes time for walks, he is full of energy. Thank you again for everything you do and for giving us this gift! Becky and Jerry -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lea
Remember Lea? She was the dog that was hogtied and left to die in the bitter cold. She continues to love her life with the Stiles family! Hi Angels! My admiration just grows and grows for the compassionate work you all do! Lea is still doing wonderfully! We wanted so badly to bring her to Barktoberfest - but Michael's new job got in the way. We hope to make it down for Christmas with the Angels in December. Lea desperately needs to consult with Santa and try to persuade him NOT to give her a pile of coal for all her misdeeds! (ha ha) Yep, she's still our "wild child". Mischief is her middle name... and trouble's her game! Lea's expertise is in stealing... pens, napkins, dollar bills - but most of all OUR HEARTS. She is well loved and greatly spoiled! God bless all of you, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Picassos, now has a wonderful home!
Dear Nancy, I thought you might want to hear about Pal?s (formally known as Picassos) first night. We made it home about 10:30. Pal (the name seems to suite him better than Buddy) and I had a chance to get to know each other because I sat in the back with him. WHAT A GREAT DOG! He is so sweet and inquisitive. It is so much fun to watch him experience things for the first time. He just loves looking in the full length mirror in our bedroom. He is curious about the sound the computer makes when it turns on but he is not so sure about the whistling tea kettle. At first he found going up and down the stairs challenging but he is doing well now. He loves exploring all the new sniffs in his new yard. Robert said he did well on his walk this morning. Lilly is coming around, I think it will all work out. I will keep you updated on Pals new life in his forever home. We will send pictures along also. Please feel free to use the extra money I gave for any needs you have at Angle Ridge or to send it along to the hurricane victims. You know best where the money should go. Take care, Patricia Collet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rena, little girl is so spoiled
Good morning, We adopted Korena (we call her Rena) from you at the end of July. I was wondering if you have a spot in your newsletter for special angels that found great homes. This little girl is so spoiled. She is very, very intelligent. She has put on weight. She is just beautiful. We?ve had her about a month a a half now and just love her to death. She is just such a sweetie. My step-daughter just recently moved in with us and these two are the best of friends. As you can see Rena sleeps in Carla?s bed, not all the time though. Thank you for being there for all these angels. God Bless Sue -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update on Ethie Nancy, I just wanted to update you on Ethie. After spending many months searching Petfinder for the perfect dog, my oldest daughter and I walked into Petco in Bethel Park and saw a puppy who was then named Ethie. She was a 10 week old black lab mix with the most adorable puppy face I had ever seen. I called my husband to bring the other 3 kids down to see her. When he got there, we got cold feet, and did not take her. The whole next week, I could not stop thinking about her. I called a few times to see if she was still there, which she was, until after the next weekend. I called that Monday and found out she was being adopted from a family who saw her when they took her to Robinson that weekend. The next weekend, which was two weeks from when I first saw her, my oldest daughter and I volunteered to help with the ?Beagles and Buddies? event. To my surprise, Ethie was there! I kept asking different volunteers if she was the dog at Petco two weeks prior, until I finally got my answer ? it was her. The adoption from Robinson had fallen through. We figured right there she was meant to be ours. Another woman was interested in her, who graciously let us have her for our kids. She was very kind, and adopted one of the other lab puppies there that day. Ethie has now become Pepper, and is almost 9 months old. She has stayed small, about 25 pounds for now, and loves the kids. She gets excited every time she hears a bus coming down the street, knowing her buddies are returning home! She is very loving and very sweet! Sue Miller -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snoopy Nancy, Our family just wanted to update everyone at Angel Ridge about our angel Snoopy. She is one of Holly's puppies. We brought her home in December as our Christmas gift. What a gift she has been to our family. We as you know have two other large dogs. Santanna is now 5 years old and Licorice is 2. Snoopy only weights about 12lbs now. The vet said that she is fully grown. We took her last week to get groomed. You should have seen her when they were doing her nails. It was so funny. She wanted to see what Karen was doing to her paw. She kept sticking her head right where Karen was trying to trim. It was adorable. Snoopy has fit in so well with our family. She is 10 months old now. We cant believe that we have had her that long. It seems as just yesterday we brought her home. Our family can't thank you and your staff enough for the great work you all do for all of God's Angels. God Bless The Baum Family -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Taffy
AUGUST 2005 We love our Taffy Crooks! We found Taffy at Angel Ridge Animal Rescue in June of 2004. We had lost our dog of 16 years on June 17, 2004?and we were very, very sad. But? on June 23, 2004?.Taffy came to live in our home! When we visited Angel Ridge for the first time and met Taffy?.we knew she was for us!!! She did not like to share her food with the other dogs so she was kept by the horse barn on a lead with a whole bunch of toys around!! As soon as she was brought around the corner of the barn to meet us, I fell in love with her?.our two boys were not long to follow!! This past year has been an interesting one to say the least!! Taffy was about 2 and ? years old and 50 pounds of pure muscle! She was not accustomed to living in a house so teaching her to stay off of the tables, chairs and beds was a feat in itself!! We have had several ups and downs?she is so fast that she has escaped out of the house and the cars a lot of times, she has also broken several leads and even a wooden post that was secured in the ground with concrete!! Every time she ran the neighborhood, I was sure she would not come back and I was heartsick. In April 2005 we invested in an invisible fence for our yard?.believe me, it has been a godsend! Taffy now has the full reign of the yard and can go in and out any door that she pleases! She is so happy with her freedom but knows her boundaries! She now sits out on the front porch and watches the boys get on the bus and waits for them in the afternoon. She also sits on the back deck with us and then pounces down into the yard to chase one of her many toys. The boys can throw her toys for her and she has the freedom to run as hard as she can chasing anything from her rubber hamburger to her oversized tennis ball!! She will lay in the shade under the trees in the far part of the yard when the boys are on the swing set. She has really become a wonderful part of our family!! I have attached several pictures of Taffy for your viewing pleasure?she is just so gosh darn cute and lovable with her golden eyes and her genuine personality! We are so glad that she is in our home! Thank you Angel Ridge!!! The Crooks Family -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hope Gets a Forever Home! I am a Golden Retriever mix born without a right leg. My family thought that I should be put to sleep since I was not able to be sold like my other brothers and sisters. A nice lady at Angel Ridge heard about my story and took me to her shelter, and said that she would take care of me until I found my forever home. I was adopted by a family that loves me very much, and doesn?t even see that I have only three legs. When I first walked into my forever home, I was greeted with several hugs and kisses by four wonderful children that spend the day playing with me. I also have a sister named Patch who too was adopted by this family as well. Patch was adopted about two years ago from Angel Ridge. She lost her left eye from and accident, but told me how wonderfully lucky I was to be adopted by this family. My first weekend that I was with my forever family, they took me camping. I loved it up there. I spent the day just running, and playing with my new family. I am starting to learn how to go up and down steps, and am also starting to run without difficulty. My new mommy (Hannah who found me at Angel Ridge and is 10) said that we are going to go to puppy school together. I am so happy that I have a large family to love me and play with. HOPE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sammy's New Home
Hello, We just want you to know how much we appreciate what you did for our boy, and are so thankful that there are places like Angel Ridge. We have recommended you to everyone we know, and are absolutely thrilled with Sam. Thank you very, very, much! Yours, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jada's New Home
Dear Angel Ridge, The Ault Family -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Daisy's Dream Comes True Daisy's dream was the carbon copy dream of every dog that finds themselves in a shelter through no fault of their own. Daisy dreamed of a day when she would be a part of a loving family with room to run and never a worry about food, shelter or her safety. Our Daisy's dream has come true in ways that she could never have imagined. Daisy, now Casey, was adopted by the Sas family of McMurray. She has a one acre yard to explore every day. She has become a canine soul mate to mom Deborah, dad Tom and brother Zack. Casey's hidden talents have emerged. She loves to swim and enjoys a dip in the pond at the family's summer home. Casey loves to explore in the wooded areas of the property. Casey takes her job as family dog and protector very seriously. Every evening, she checks the bedrooms of the members of the family to make sure all is well. Her favorite room in the house? It is the garage, where she slips away to sit proudly in the driver's seat of the family quad. Look out world! Casey Sas is a canine with dreams that never end. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bentley Update
Dear Nancy, Shelia and staff, We wanted to give you an update on our "angel" Bentley, but you knew him as Ben the Beagle....... The first couple of days were a lot of work, but it has proven to be well worth our, and his, efforts. Bentley was very timid and cowered every time we came near him. He kept to himself and did not do much except sleep on his new bed. He would follow us down stairs, but would cry at the bottom, not wanting to come up them. It took us 3 days of work, but he started flying up them in his usual Beagle style. We were not sure if he had been allowed to do stairs or even were familiar with them. But nothing stops him now. He has recently started to play with his new toys. He is a joy watching him now play alone. He picks up what ever toy is nearest him and throws it across the room, then runs like a maniac after them. He is also a very skilled soccer player, using his paws to score his imaginary goals. He can entertain us for hours. He went to our Vet, Kathy Daugherty and got a clean bill of health. One thing he needed was gum surgery since they were inflamed and receding. We also had him micro chipped in the event he would get away from us. He went through that with flying colors. He was actually chewing a denta bone that evening. My husband is home all day with him, giving constant attention. When I arrive home, he goes nuts. He howls just like a Beagle does and does his "Flamingo" dance. He makes my return home from a hard day at the office something I look forward to everyday. Since the love of our life, Tucker, passed away on January 26th (two weeks after we celebrated his 16th birthday) we needed a void in our life filled. Bentley has done that for us. He is all that we could have asked for. Not to replace Tucker, but to add a new joy to our lives. We know that if we do all we did for Tucker during his life with us, Bentley will be as happy, loved and live a long, long life. We want to thank you for bringing us together. Also want to thank you for using the Petfinders.com web site to post him so we could find him. Without you using that site, we would never have found you or him. I hope to send you updates, showing how happy Bentley is and we are as well. We want to wish you all the luck in the world with your crusade to save unwanted dogs. We do not know how anyone could have given Bentley up, but we are glad they did !!! Thank you, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Belle Update Hi, I just wanted to let you know that Belle (Maxi) is doing very well. When we brought her home, she sniffed every corner of the garage, basement, upstairs (except the bathrooms), went into the living room and plopped down like she has always been here. Had an accident or two in the house, but we're working on that, and decided that a bath wasn't so bad after a treat or two. We are so glad we asked about her that day, weren't really expecting to adopt so soon after Sparky's departure, but Belle has really kept us from being so sad. We hope to have a long and happy relationship with Belle! Sincerely, Toni Coll & Bob -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Peggy Update
Dear Ladies at Angel Ridge Farm/Rescue, We adopted Peggy in December 2004 from Angel Ridge Farm/Rescue. She was first rescued by you from another shelter, then we brought her home. She was very skittish around my husband at first, but he won her heart and of course Peggy is our princess. She loves to play in the yard. She carries sticks, chases squirrels, and eats the wood chips in my flower beds! She is fun, playful and loveable. She gets many, many kisses every morning. We go for walks on nice weather days. Peggy has brought laughter and a daily routine to our retirement days. We are so glad we found your web site. Now I see your donation containers in the stores. This small gift comes with our gratitude for the work you do. Peggy is great. Thanks, Sincerely Judy. |
