This past summer, Angel Ridge Animal Rescue submitted a video to the national "Inspire Action" contest sponsored by Capella University. I wrote the script for the two minute video and a volunteer, Laura Gething, recorded and edited it. The theme of the video was, of course, the work of our rescue, but also how businesses and citizens can work together to solve the problem of animal overpopulation and suffering, as well as other human problems in this country.
Over 125 videos were submitted by individuals working for various causes throughout the country. The videos were posted on YouTube and the public was asked to vote through the contest website. The top 30 vote getters became finalists and were reviewed by a Committee for their merit.
Nine videos were selected as winners for a $10,000 prize. I was so surprised and elated when I learned on September 6th that Angel Ridge Animal Rescue was one of the winners. The prize money is especially appreciated now that winter is just around the corner and our heating bill averages about $1,500 per month. Our angels were really looking after us, I must say! Thank you to everyone who had a part in this success. Many volunteers gave up an evening to be a part of the taping and many people voted and asked others to vote for Angel Ridge. A special thank you to Laura for making this happen for us. Laura has an impressive background in media production and she is the Communications Coordinator for Carlow University. Laura was really busy at work when I requested her help on the project. She rearranged her schedule to produce this video.
We are all so proud of this winning video. You can take a look at the video by visiting our Facebook page or by going to www.youtube.com/capellainspires.
