New Beginnings

Angel / 12-2015

Angel was GSD that came to Angel Ridge in November of 2015.  She came to us with King another GSD.

Their owner had suddenly had passed away and we needed find homes for them.

Angel has ended up with a great family and she has a new brother.

Banjo / 11/ 2015

Banjo came to Angel Ridge as a stray. Such a sweet boy to have been dumped.  Angel Ridge made sure that he was neutered and up dated on his shots.  With that personality it did not take long for him to find his furever home.

Belle 2016 / Adopted 2006

While volunteering at the recent Hearts and Paws pet fair, I stopped by to visit the Angel Ridge booth.  I began to tell them Belle's story, and they suggested that I email you and tell you too.
It was ten and a half years ago, and my husband and I stopped at Petco to buy cat food.
Upon entering the store, we were greeted by an Angel Ridge Volunteer, who had "Lorrie," a shepherd mix.  We immediately fell in love with this one year old, who in her short life, had already known suffering.  Her so called owners had moved, and left her and her newborn pups to die.  By the time that the Angels at Angel Ridge found her, one pup had already perished.  The good news was that they had found homes for the pups, but they still needed to find a home for "Lorrie"
We adopted "Lorrie", and re named her Belle.  She's now eleven and a half, and such a beautiful and gentle creature!
I want to thank the Angels at Angel Ridge for all that you do, and I know that there is a place in heaven for each and every one of you.
Thank you for reading Belle's story!
Sincerely-

Brenda McMinn

Bubba / 2015

Bubba is a foster failure.  He was being fostered by one of our volunteers and there was such a connection that Bubba found his forever home.

Fiona / August / 2015

Fiona was one of our favorite dogs @ AR.  Fiona needed to be the only dog and especially did not like other female dogs.  She had been at our kennel for several years before she was adopted the first time.  After about 3 yrs. Fiona was dumped at another rescue "with the statement that she was a stray that they had found".  Not true!  They had not found her, they didn't want her anymore and created this story. She had been microchipped and they knew that she belonged to Angel Ridge.

Fiona was back at AR for almost 9 months when she finally found her forever home.  She now has a human that totally loves her and will give her a wonderful life.

George Jones / 2015

George Jones was adopted in 2015.  He now has a canine sister to have fun with and a wonderful family to love him.

J.J. December / 2015

JJ, the black lab mix, adopted by Christopher of Aliquippa in early December. Chris said he fell in love instantly with JJ and they are having no issues. JJ has lots of toys and eats twice a day, plus treats. He gets lots of exercise and has no health issues. He sleeps on the couch and spends the day in the house. Chris has a bell on the door which JJ rings when he needs to go out to do his business. He is very happy with JJ and had a great experience at Angel Ridge.

Kiki (Jingle)

Kiko is doing great and we are very thankful for you pairing us with him.  He seems very comfortable here and fits into our family well!  Andre, our 4 yr. old son absolutely adores Kiko and visa versa, they are best friends!

King / 12-2015

King was a GSD that came to Angel Ridge after his owner suddenly passed away.  King had been owned by a breeder.  Soon after coming to AR he was updated on shots and also neutered.

He lives with a great family in Washington County.

Lily

Just wanted to send you some pictures of Lily.  We took her into see Dr. Werner on Thursday.  All is fine.  She didn’t like going to the vet, can’t say I blame her.

Lily is so sweet, we have kept the two kittens separated and will introduce them later this week.  They play with each other under the door a lot.  Lily loves to snuggle.

Take care,

Andy Risley

Lily (update)

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Holiday and share some pictures of Lily.

Lily is adjusting very well to her new home.  She has such a sweet, mellow disposition and will crawl up on my lap and fall asleep.

She and our other kitten Cali get along very well.

Lucy

Lucy's the sweetest little dog - completely housebroken, knows some basic comments, waits patiently for food, sleeps through the night (next to one of us, we take turns sleeping on the couch with her lead around our arm so she can't chase the cats), looks up at us for directions, and likes everyone she meets -  We gave her a bath today and she's three shades lighter in color! We are monitoring her walking.  Two 15 minute walks a day is about all she can handle.  We have previcox to give her, if needed.  We liked to take her to our Vet this week for a second opinion on her ACL tears.  Our adopting her has nothing to do with her medical issues, we are simply making sure our cats are at least semi-okay about the new addition before we make the final commitment.  As you all know, cats only accept change on their own terms and in their own time frames.  We realized that and aren't pushing the cats. So far 3 of the 4 cats hide in the basement during the day.  We think they come upstairs at night & check out Lucy as she sleeps on the couch.  The 4th cat has been okay with it all, Lucy touched noses with that cat today and attempted to sniff her butt before the cat dashed off.  We took that as a positive sign of pack behavior.  And we hope the other 3 will come along.

Lucy's ACL problems make her more endearing to us.  We are softies for animals with special needs (2 of our 4 cats are special needs). We know most folks can't or won't spend the time and money it takes for them.  That's why we're working so hard to make it work with our cats. Jan's upstairs at the moment the Lucy and I'm in the basement with one cat on my lap, petting a second cat & trying to write this email with one hand!!

Note-I would've included Sandy on this email but not sure which is hers from the string of emails.

Our best regards to all, Jan Beaumariage & Sue Brawdy

Maggie

This is Lilly and Maggie.  As you can see Maggie has been rescued by a great family and their daughter Lilly.  I think that Maggie has found the perfect playmate and best friend.

Manny / 12/2015

I think this picture says it all!  Sometimes it just has to be the perfect fit.

Marty (Christopher)

I spoke with Christopher's mom last night.
Christopher was our deaf kitten ..
Danyel said that  he is awesome and fit in right away.
They love him !!
His new name is Martin Seamus McfFly or just plain " Marty "

Max

Hi Nancy, Faye and all the volunteers,

We took Max yesterday to foster to adopt and I just wanted to send you some pictures.  He is adjusting to all of us and a new routine, but is a total sweetheart.  Thank you for your great rescue facility and your kindness yesterday.  We had a great experience and are hoping in about 2 weeks that Max will be acclimated to being part of our family!  Here he is enjoying his new big back yard and interacting with our kids.

I do have one question...how much did he weigh?  We are estimating about 40 pounds, but just wanted to make sure we were feeding him the proper amount each day.

Thank you for everything!
Jenn and Adam Vlcek

Max ( update)

Max has been with us for about 6 weeks and I'm happy to say he is much calmer now than he was when he arrived!  Still working on his relationship with the cats.  Poor guy...he can't understand why they wouldn't want to be pals.

Max and I start our obedience class on Sunday.  I had an orientation and the teacher had a lot of great ideas and helped me see the importance of keeping his mind active.  He has learned to sit, give a paw, and come inside when called.  He is gentler with our kids.

We also decided to put him in Camp Bow Wow once or twice a week so he can play with other dogs because he is so social.  He did great on his first day and they said he's welcome back any time.

He loves jumping in the car to go on adventures with us.  He enjoys taking hikes on the trails in the parks.  Walks around the neighborhood are a little more difficult.  There are other dogs everywhere and he still goes wild when he sees them.

He is quite the snuggler.  In fact, he is sleeping next to me right now.  I think he fits in nicely with our family.  As my son said, "Max is the best dog ever!"

Now, back to reading the book Faye recommended..."The Other End of the Leash"...

Here are some recent pictures!

Melcom

Hello, everyone!  I have a minute until my driver gets here to give you an update.  I have been at my new home since October and  getting a lots  of love and attention.  I get along really good with  my 2 brothers, Champ and Baylee.  I think they get a little jealous since I get most of the attention now.  We take a long walk every morning and night and spend a lot of time at the barn.  I am never on a leash and  know just about where everything is now.  I am really enjoying staying home in the air-conditioning on those really hot days.  My Mom really tuckers me out when she stays home from work.  We are really busy some days.  I gotta go now but hope you all are well and see you in the Fall.

Melcom (update)

Melcom is having a great life.  He has been at his new home for just over a year now.  He gets along with everyone and goes on a lot of long walks never on a leash  with his 2 brothers.  He is well taken care of and get all the love and attention he can handle.  Melcom has some good news and bad news for 2012.  The eye specialist saw Melcom last month and advised that no surgical procedure could restore any vision to Melcom’s eyes.  The good news is that he is very loved and can feel our caring and kindness.

Melcom Update 2

Happy holidays!  Remember  me?  I was at the shelter for a very long time but I am home for good now.  I am doing very well.  I still can’t see but I got to keep my eyeballs and get the very best medical attention.  I even had that ugly black mole removed from my head.  I am a chick magnet now.

I go on alot of long walks on the farm  without a leash with my 2 brothers.  Some people can’t believe I am blind. I am very well loved and get treated like a little king.  I think I ended up at the treat palace.  IT’S ALL GOOD !!!…  MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL .. XOXOXO MELCOM

Mia (puppy)

Thank you Angel Ridge for the wonderful puppy we adopted! Mia is really enjoying her new home and she has become such an important part of me and my sons life!

Molly

Dear Angel Ridge,

Our names are Mitchell and Carly DeCock and we adopted Molly from Angel Ridge on March 4th, 2012.  We have been wanting a dog our whole lives and had been searching everywhere until we came to Angel Ridge and right away we knew Molly was the one.  We brought home a dog that was super easily trained and was very quiet until we turned the TV on!

We have had so many great times with Molly and we have not even had her for a year yet .!

She is two years old now and we couldn't have asked for a better dog.  We wanted to thank you so much for introducing us to her.

Love,

Carly and Mitchell DeCock

Nelson

Nelson is sitting on his couch. He wanted to say hi to all his friends and caregivers at Angel Ridge Animal Rescue.

Nikoma

Nikoma is doing great in her new home.  After her former owner passed away Nikoma came to Angel Ridge with hopes of finding a great home with a loving family.  Pictures speak louder than words and by looking at these pictures I would say that she has has the perfect loving family.

Thank you Pam for giving Nikoma the opportunity to share her love with you and your family.

Phineas ( Mason)

Here are some pictures of Mason in his new habitat.   I hope you all enjoy them!  You'll notice (from the picture titles) that we've renamed him Phineas and kept Mason as his middle name.  He came to New York with us to visit my family last weekend, and he and my brother David had 13 hours of quality bonding time in the car.  Two of the pictures are from that car ride.

Take care!

Heather Blocki

Pumpkin

Pumpkin is adjusting to his new home and family quite well.  This is such a great picture!

Ranger ( aka Gunner)

Ranger aka Gunner UPDATE!! Ranger was diagnosed with EPI, which means his body cannot digest food (think '24 hour eating that goes straight thru animal'), in June while at Angel Ridge. In July he weighed in at a skinny 62 lbs. Treatments of adding enzymes to food began there and have continued since he adopted us in early October. He went the vet last Tuesday and he now weighs 78 lbs!!!! An 'ideal weight' for his build!! Vet also said he is 'the happiest Shepherd I've ever seen'! We are sooooo happy! He is just a big rambunctious sweetheart - thinks he's a lapdog.

Rex / 10-2015

Rex was a senior Dane mix when he came to Angel Ridge in September, 2015.   Due to the stress of the kennel Rex was not doing well.  He went to a Foster home with Cindy in October.  He almost was another one of her "foster failures"!  Thank goodness someone saw him and fell in love with him !

Rocky

Rocky has recently found his forever home with a family in Jefferson Hills.  Here are some pictures of Rocky living the good life with his new family.

More updates to follow....

Rocky

On February 20th 2012 we lost our black lab of 12 years to seizures. He had been lifelong buddies with our younger Chocolate lab that now is turning 8 yrs old this October. When he passed away our Chocolate lab, Hercules, became very depressed and seemed lost because the two of them did everything together and ran in our backyard daily.

When we decided to look for another dog we wanted one that was around the same age as Hercules and Angel Ridge Animal Rescue was recommended by a family member as a very caring shelter. August 2013 we decided to take a drive out to see the dogs and my husband fell in love at first site with Sir Rockford or Rocky as we know him.

When we brought him home that first night we never dreamed that he would immediately fit right into our family. Rocky and Hercules are already best buddies and they play, sleep, eat and run around together daily. We also discovered that Rocky enjoys a game of fetch now and then.

Thank you Angel Ridge for introducing us to Rocky because our home is again complete and Hercules is no longer depressed. We love Rocky and know that he was meant to be a part of our family.

Rufus Update

Just wanted to show how Rufus has settled into his home after a little over a year.  He has turned into quite the couch potato.  Even though he is blind, he makes his way around the house  the same as his brothers and sister.  Still he is scared of different noises but it is getting better.  Rufus is a big teddy bear that loves to be hugged.  We are so glad to have him in our family.  This is a part of a Blind Dog poem that is so true.

"He can not see.  The dogs no good" is what folks might say,

"He can't be trained, he'll never learn, he must be put away.

You took me in, you gave me love and  we will never part,

Because I'm blind with just my eyes, I see you in my heart.

Rusty Update

Rusty has been with us for over a year now... he is wonderful... he runs and plays with toys...I think he is getting younger...thanks again for rescuing him...he is a great dog. Pam and Rusty

Rusty update 4

This is a picture of Rusty Christmas 2013..... another one of our rescues who hit the lottery!!

Sable / 11/2015

Sable has been adopted and has found out what it is like to relax.

Shadow (Sal) & Onyx

Hi barb- they love the cat condo and have been doing great.   They have been very affectionate and adjusted very well.   They play like crazy with each other- very funny...will never have to worry about the nap in the carpet- they do a good job of keeping  it fluffed.

We actually got a large fluffy bed which we put in a crate and they sleep hugging each other.  I renamed sal to shadow because he follows me everywhere.   He's been like medicine for me and I think he knows it.  I've never seen a cat sleep on its back but he does and it's funny because he does that in the crook of my arm.

I've switched their food to pro plan by the vets recommendation.  No more vomiting!  Shadow/sal feels like he is gaining weight so we want to keep that under control.   They both let me clean their ears!

We love them and they are very good with strangers too.  I think they appreciate our home and in a way- we saved each other.

Susan

Skipper (Hank) 12-2015

Skipper was a rescue from the Georgia area.  He was a survivor of severe flooding and was never claimed by his owners and was soon to be put down.   Our Director drove several hours to save Skipper after reading his story.  He then was brought to AR to find his forever family.  Such a lucky boy.

Tango

Hello Angel Ridge

Tango is doing great here. He is fitting right in. He is an awesome dog! We feel so lucky to have found him. He has the funniest personality! We are having a ton of fun :) he is best friends with my 15 year old Sheltie Nani and treats him with the utmost respect. And my whole family is in love with him.

Thanks we'll see you soon!

Taylor (Angel) Update

Just want to drop you a line and give you an update on our Angel.  She has been an absolute blessing since she came home.  She is such a sweet and loving girl and such a cuddle bug!  She is beyond perfect.  She is my constant companion and couldn't imagine our life without her.  It just amazes me that she ended up in the shelter.  She is so loving and sweet, never has an accident in the house and when we are at work, she just plays with her toys and never gets into anything that she shouldn't.  She is very much a lady and will sit and wait for me to fix her dinner.  I don't know why anyone would have gotten rid of such a great dog, but I am happy that they did because she brings such joy to our lives.  Thank you again and I hope you had a wonderful holiday season!

Bethany and Bill Stajduhar

Taylor (now Angel)

We would love if you put it on your site!  She is truly an Angel!  She makes us smile everyday.  We have a major case of puppy love!  :-)

Just wanted to give you an update on Taylor.  We have renamed her Angel.  She is the sweetest girl!  Her favorite activity is to cuddle and takes naps with me!  She loves our evening walks and is such a great addition to our family!  I can't say enough good things about her!  She plays for hours with our Cheyenne and Wally our 10 year old shepherd husky mix, is acting like a puppy again!  She has no problems with our cats and will even curl up and sleep with them!  My mom stopped over with her chihuahuas and Angel was a perfect lady with them despite their barking and growling at her.  She has had absolutely no accidents in the house and she sits patiently while I fix her dinner or when I give her a treat.  She is perfect.
So, thank you for letting us give her a forever home.  You deserve a billion thank you's for doing what you do for our four legged friends.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Bethany Kubena-Stajduhar

Teddy New update

Therapy Dog International, Teddy, at the Ronald McDonald House.

Teddy donated blood today at PVSEC. He is doing his part to save dogs too.

Tehya

Tehya has been recently adopted and named by Mike..... pretty white kitten with gray ears.

Tehya (update)

Mike says she is growing fast and full of energy.
Tehya is little sister to Gray and Dizzy

Toby (Howie)

Toby had been brought to Angel Ridge sometime in January during one of the coldest winters in a long time.  He had been rescued by the Humane Officer ... found tethered outside in frigid weather.  Toby was very dirty and matted from never being taken care of.
Andrea one of our volunteers took him to be bathed and groomed .....what a good looking boy he was after his visit to the groomers.
Toby's adoption was finalized on Sunday February 9th 2014. He is doing great. His new owner's walk him twice a day and say he is adjusting well.

Tony / 2015

Tony was not at Angel Ridge very long.  This little guy won over his new owner right away.

Vanna

Hello there Rescue Angels!

I just wanted to send a quick email about LaLa, formerly known as Vanna. She is doing wonderfully!!! She's grown--a lot--and now weighs about 65 or 70 lbs. My baby is all growed up!

Her adult coat is darker than her puppy coat, it's a beautiful dark honey red color, and we couldn't imagine life without our smooshy red puppers. :) Her sister Hattie is her best friend, they snuggle and play and follow each other around all day, and of course, 10-lb Hattie is the boss! LaLa is not a natural hunting dog, she is still skittish about stuff, except for cats and squirrels, and usually lets Hattie protect her when it comes to bugs, birds, litter, leaves, sticks, or the big bad vacuum or blender monsters. We are working on it though :) She sits very politely, sings on command, gives kisses, and shakes hands (well, paws) quite nicely--and she is an absolute Daddy's girl still. Doggie daycare has been amazing for her, she goes every once in a while (she gets a little too loud if she gets too overwhelmed or tired) and of course loves her walks--so much to smell!

Thank you all so much for the chance to bring her home and make her part of our family, we really can't believe what a wonderful girl she is, and we cherish every minute with her!

I've attached some pictures, more can be found on her Facebook page (LaLa Feldmann), along with videos!

Best Wishes,

Sam (and Dave, and LaLa, and Hattie)
